Richard Corbett - Vascular Surgeon
As a vascular surgeon I deal with diseases that affect the peripheral vascular system. This system comprises the arteries and veins that lie outside the chest. Blood vessels inside the chest are the preserve of the cardiothoracic surgeons.
Until a few years ago, like most of my colleagues I was a general surgeon with a special interest in vascular surgery. Things have changed greatly over the last 10 years or so and most surgeons only work in a relatively narrow specialised field, in my case vascular surgery.
Many patients surfing the net for information on varicose veins are trying to find which of the alternative treatments for varicose veins might suit them best. The options are:
- Conventional surgery
- Foam sclerotherapy
- VNUS radiofrequency ablation
- Endovenous laser treatment.
On this website I offer what I consider is impartial advice based on my own experience and practice. However all patients are different and I can only give proper individual advice after full examination and duplex scanning.
For more information see my Advice sheets and check the articles.
